Jacob Saikolo is a
Data Manager for IPOR. He is a highly skilled data professional with a strong
background in Statistics, Computer Science and Mathematics with over 3 years of experience.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Statistics and Computer Science from University
of Malawi in 2019. Currently, he is pursuing his Master's degree in Data
Science. During his studies, Jacob Saikolo has developed a deep
understanding of statistical theory and its practical applications, as well as
a mastery of various programming languages and data analysis tools. He is
familiar with several data collection platforms (CAPI, CATI, CAWI & PAPI) which gather data from surveys, interviews, observations, focus groups, experiments, and secondary data. These includes but not limited to SurveyCTO, SurveyToGo,
Survey Solutions, ODK Ona, CSPro, REDCap, CommCare, Survey monkey, google forms, etc. He is competent with several data analysis software, databases and programming languages such as Excel, SPSS, STATA, Python, R Programming, Microsoft Access, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java, C++, PHP, Java Script among many others. He also has gained
experience in research design and implementation, conducting advanced statistical analyses, report
writing, proposal development and building predictive models. After graduation, Jacob Saikolo worked
as a part-time Associate Lecturer in Statistics and and a Tutor in Computer Science at
University of Malawi. At IPOR, Jacob has leveraged his expertise in statistics
and computer science to drive data-driven insights and decision-making across
the organization. He has also collaborated with cross-functional teams to
develop, program and deploy complex questionnaires for data collection, and has
contributed to numerous data-driven projects that have yielded significant
results. He manages surveys, developing questionnaires with good logic,
programing survey questionnaires, monitoring data collection in real time and
physically, reviewing and cleaning datasets, analyzing data, interpreting and
presenting survey results and communicating the results to the public for
actions. He enjoys staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in
programming advancements, data science, and high-level statistical analyses,
and participates in various online communities and forums to exchange ideas and
insights with other data professionals.
